CODEBIO is an international Erasmus+ project focused on modernising vocational education and training (VET) in regenerative and resilient bio-production, with a particular emphasis on the Western Balkans. The project responds to the green and digital transition, Industry 5.0 challenges, and EU policy priorities such as the European Green Deal. VET often struggles to keep pace with digitalisation, circular economy practices, and evolving needs of the agri-bio sector, especially in the Western Balkans. Limited co-innovation capacities and fragmented collaboration with industry remain key challenges addressed by the project. CODEBIO delivers practical solutions through updated VET curricula, digital tools relevant to bio-production, modular training programmes, and train-the-trainers models. Pilot activities and work-based learning ensure that educational content is demand-driven and applicable in real-world settings. The project brings together partners from the Western Balkans and the European Union, including LUT University (Finland), with a focus on knowledge transfer, scalable VET models, and long-term impact on skills development and economic resilience. This Project is Co-funded by the European Union.

InsectLab
InsectLab is an innovation project focused on advancing sustainable solutions in animal nutrition through the development and application of insect-based bio-production systems. The project was implemented in response to increasing pressures on conventional protein sources, the need for circular resource use, and the transition towards more resilient and environmentally efficient agricultural practices.
The project addresses key challenges in the agri-feed sector, including dependency on imported protein raw materials, volatility of feed ingredient markets, and limited adoption of alternative and sustainable inputs. InsectLab contributes to the transition towards circular bioeconomy models by valorising organic resources and converting them into high-value protein ingredients.
Through a structured approach combining research, pilot implementation, and validation, the project developed practical solutions including testing of insect-derived raw materials, optimisation of processing and handling conditions, and evaluation of their integration into feed formulations. The project also included procurement of equipment, pilot-scale production activities, and collaboration with stakeholders across the feed and livestock value chain.
InsectLab was implemented by Greenagro and co-financed by the Fund for Innovation and Technological Development (FITR), supporting innovation and technology-driven growth in the agri-food sector.
